I have a word in cck image upload field which I can't translate because I do not find that word.

The word is Choose ...

I tried admin/build/translate/search to find every Choose something wrapped in a t() Function

Did not find it

Then I made a string search on ALL files of my installation - 1800 results but nowhere the single word Choose.

It is the choose button for uploads.

I have logic understanding problem, because if a string search does not find it ...

It is also in the user profile where one can upload an avatar

I think that has nothing to do with Drupal, but is from your browser. So the user will get it in whatever language his browser uses.
