Just installed & ran updates - replacing drupal core w/pressflow and the modules that needed updates, everything still works mostly save for a few mixed up parts. Ive got mentions pouring in though they only pull into the [All] filter, so the views and/or categorization bits are mucked. /trends page seems to be broken too.

Anyone else still messing with this? Even in its current state im finding some great info on a few topics we regularly research... too cool!

It has been quite some time, it looks to be dead. I think maybe Phase2 has too much going on right now.

Would like to know what the status is myself. I could see Managing News and Tattler being merged, but would be most curious to hear something official about this project.

so, i now suspect that all of the tattler and managing news core functionality is going to somehow wind up as taken apart and repurposed for the open publish distribution, that's my gut based on current functionality (including opencalais, plus the drop of apture - they need something to do smart content presentation and discovery like zemanta)
