Does anyone here have experience with Ektron Web Content Management? The association I work for is evaluating a CMS that we'll hope to migrate all of our systems (or at the very least, a good number of them) into over time. We've narrowed it down to either Ektron or Drupal. We'd love to hear a comparison from someone who's had experience working with both systems.

Don't even consider using Ektron. It's written in .NET which is far worse than PHP and it doesn't have support and community like Drupal. My previous company once used Ektron for 2 websites. The least I can say is that they were not happy with it.

jefgodesky,
If you would like additional information concerning our product, please email me at mike(dot)pascucci@ektron(dot)com. We always are interested in learning what your needs are and how our solution can support you. Over the past few years our solution has come a long way and most of the negative sentiment out there is based on older versions which have not been upgraded over time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks, Mike. My association is already in touch with Ektron. I posted this in the hopes of hearing from people who've had experience working with both systems, to add that perspective to our consideration. It's encouraging to see your people active even in the communities for other CMS's, and we'll certainly bear your point about complaints from older versions in mind.

All,

We recently published an article comparing the two systems. As an agency, we are very familiar with both systems, and have customers on both Ektron and Drupal. However, in the last couple years, we have greatly shifted our recommendations and find ourselves greatly favoring Drupal as the best system for our clients' needs. Here is the article:

Drupal vs. Ektron

I know this thread is few years old. But someone might come across it like me. So, here is my view - "It totally depends upon the requirement of the site".

As someone who maintains both Drupal and Ektron sites I think both of these tools are great at what they are built to do. So, the requirement of the target site will need to be evaluated against the features offered by these tools. Also, if there is any infrastructure restriction that can play a role in making the decision. For example, if existing platform of an Organization is using Microsoft Technologies then Ektron would be the better choice or if their existing platform is LAMP stack then Drupal could be the answer.

Cheers!
Imon
