I'd like to see Media Gallery with the possibility of having media per user and gallery per user ! Is it possible ? So user would not be able to select media they are not the owner of. Only their own media.

funkDoc CreditAttribution: funkDoc commentedAny word on this? Any way to have user specific galleries, and libraries that display only the users files? Maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but it doesn't look supported.
I'm starting a new project and this is actually the determining factor of whether I go with Drupal 6 or 7. I would prefer Drupal 7 but Node Gallery isn't supported in 7. Anyone have tips for other Gallery modules that are user specific for Drupal 7? Thanks for any help.

I would prefer using media since it support multiple upload files but none for D7 is available right now. Also if you are looking for comment or interaction for each picture, right now Media gallery do not support that kind of thing. There is a thread I see with the possibility to do it, but I think its not for now. They will have to create a module like entity comment to make it available for each media.
Good luck !

peronas CreditAttribution: peronas commentedI think this request is part of the bigger discussion happening around more granular access control of Media. There are a few places in the Media issue queue where some progress is being made on this.
#696970: Granular editorial access control
#992978: Add 'View media browser library' permissions
Once more fine tuned control over media assets is introduced at the Media level you'll be able to control what users have access to when adding content to galleries.
