Hi,

I just joined the Drupal mailing lists. If someone didn't happen to mention the lists in a forum post, I wouldn't have known they existed. They don't seem to be advertised or linked to from the Drupal site?

Also, is it redundant to have both the Drupal site/Forums and the mailing lists? Why not just do everything through the site? Seems like it would be more simple for both people seeking information and for those providing it.

ok, found this post http://drupal.org/node/view/1944, from last year. but do we still think it's a good idea to have both?

There are diffrent kinds of people: thos who like web forums and those who don't (such as me). So it is indeed a good idea to have both.

If you want to get support on a particular contrib module you should use the support requests (create content > issue). Those get mailed to the author and you will ususally get better responses.

The mailinglists are mentioned in several places.

Clicking 'support' on the top of this site leads you to a page which says:
"If you prefer e-mail, you can subscribe to our support mailing list."

This leads to the following book page, which is linked in other places too:
