Hi,
I just joined the Drupal mailing lists. If someone didn't happen to mention the lists in a forum post, I wouldn't have known they existed. They don't seem to be advertised or linked to from the Drupal site?
Also, is it redundant to have both the Drupal site/Forums and the mailing lists? Why not just do everything through the site? Seems like it would be more simple for both people seeking information and for those providing it.

There are diffrent kinds of p
There are diffrent kinds of people: thos who like web forums and those who don't (such as me). So it is indeed a good idea to have both.
If you want to get support on a particular contrib module you should use the support requests (create content > issue). Those get mailed to the author and you will ususally get better responses.
