Hi
My site( www.eyst.co.uk) is under considerable strain following some spammer targeting my site with automated user registration. It is such time consuming to deal with this problem, So I had to close user registrations.
Do you have any Ideas to combat this kind of spam.
Cheers

How about captcha
You might want to try out the captcha module http://drupal.org/project/captcha and textimage http://drupal.org/project/textimage . These add two options to your registration page. Either a math problem that must be answered or an image with characters in it that the user must type into a text box before they are registered on your site. Hope this helps you.

Good advice
I second ano1's advice. The captcha module has worked flawlessly on my sites (so far [fingers crossed]).
The textimage module is optional, by the way. Without the textimage module, the captcha module displays a maptcha (math problem) instead.
Thanks
Thanks for advice captcha seem to work the trick, but even after I did install text module I cant see the text image so I am using cpata now
