I've set up 4 arguments: Year/Month/Week/Day
When I click the 4 respective links above my calendar the breadcrumb navi turns into something like this:
Home » testcalendar » testcalendar » testcalendar
Each link testcalendar leads to the year view

The problem is that you shouldn't use all 4 arguments. Either use Year/Month/Day or Year/Week. The only shortcoming of using Views for this is I can't force you to use the right arguments, so all I can do is try to explain it :-)
