Hi All,

I've just installed organic groups and am testing it, but I cannot seem to work out how to create forum containers and forums for a specific group alone.

When I first went to create a topic inside the group it of course first complained that there were no forums created yet. I couldn't see where to create containers or forums, so I made those at the root site. However, that means that anyone can see the containers and forum topics, whether they are a member of the group or not. Of course, the module is correctly hiding the posts, but I would prefer if it completely hid the containers and forums from non-group members as well.

Does anyone know a way to either,
1) create a forum container or forum inside a particular group, or
2) restrict all knowledge of the existence for a container or forum from non-members of the group?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I used to do similar conealing with the Taxonomy Access Controll module, but of course I can't use that and the Organic Groups at the same time ;-(

Are you using the OG_forum module?

Thanks for the quick reply. No, I hadn't been using OG_forum yet. I just looked at it and it says that it is abandoned. Is that my only choice?

Abandoned just means that there is no maintenance of it and it may not be updated for 5.0 any time soon if ever. The module itself is functional - I use it on two sites. The big downside is that you have to run all you forums through an Organic Group but it's a worthwhile tradeoff if you really need it. I find, however, that just posting simple nodes with comments is actually enough for a discussion and users get confused by a forum and commenting on a blog.

Also if you check out the issue queue here http://drupal.org/project/issues/og_forum you will see that some people are still working on it.
