CKEditor 6.x-1.2 component is not installed correctly. Why? [#1009776]

1. I download Ckeditor from http://drupal.org/project/ckeditor, recomended releases 6.x-1.2 (zip 172.34 KB / date 2010-Sep-29).

2. Unzip and have directory: Downloads/ckeditor-6.x-1.2:
-ckeditor (with files - .csignore, changelog.txt, ckeditor.config.js, ckeditor.css, ...)
--ckeditor (with files – copy_here.txt)
--includes (with files – ckeditor.admin.inc, ... )
--plugins
---drupalbreaks (and other direktories with files)
--translations (wit files – ckeditor.pot, ...)

3.Copy first "ckeditor" to sites/all/modules. Have:
Sites/all/modules:
-ckeditor (with files - .csignore, changelog.txt, ckeditor.config.js, ckeditor.css, ...)
--ckeditor (with files – copy_here.txt)
--includes (with files – ckeditor.admin.inc, ... )
--plugins
---drupalbreaks (and other direktories with files)
--translations (wit files – ckeditor.pot, ...)

4.Go to http://localhost/drupal6/admin/build/modules/list and check box: enabled Ckeditor 6.x-1.2. Press – Save Configuration.

5.Receive Comment: The configuration options have been saved.

6.Go to: User Managment > Permissions and check box in ckeditor module: access ckeditor – authenticated user. Press – Save permissions.

7.Receive Comment: The changes have been saved.

8.Go to: Site configuration > Ckeditor and see comments:

- Checking for sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor/config.js or sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/ckeditor.js.

- The CKEditor component is not installed correctly. Please go to the CKEditor homepage to download the latest version. After that you must extract the files to sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor or sites/all/libraries/ckeditor and make sure that the file sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor/ckeditor.js or sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/ckeditor.js exist. Refer to the readme.txt for more information.

Question:
Whats wrong? Why CKEditor component is not installed correctly?

File config.js is not in directory
sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor,
but in:
sites/all/modules/ckeditor

Must copy this files: .csignore, changelog.txt, ckeditor.config.js, ckeditor.css, ... from
-ckeditor (with files - .csignore, changelog.txt, ckeditor.config.js, ckeditor.css, ...)
to here:
--ckeditor (with files – copy_here.txt) ... ?

Its not clearly and not understanding – why unzip make wrong directories ...

Do you have downloaded the ckeditor from ckeditor.com?
You must install this module as you did, but you too need copy the library ckeditor from the site ckeditor.com, uncrompress it and copy it to sites/all/libraries, so you wll have a folder sites/all/libraries/ckeditor with files like ckeditor.php, ckeditor.asp inside it.

I downloaded from http://drupal.org/project/ckeditor, not from ckeditor.com.
I have the same problem: http://drupal.org/node/205893
Ok - thanks - I test Your way: copy the library ckeditor from the site ckeditor.com ...

1.Uncheck box in: .../modules/list on Ckeditor.
Press: Save configuration.
Receive Comment: The configuration options have been saved.

2. Goto: .../modules/uninstall.
Check box on CKEditor
Press Uninstall
Would you like to cntinue ...
Press: Uninstall
Receive Comment: The selected modules have been uninstalled.

3.Delete ckeditor dorectory from …/sites/all/modules
And dont see Ckeditor in modules list.

4. Goto http://ckeditor.com/download and download: ckeditor_3.5zip

5. Unzip ckeditor and have directory:
.../downloads/ckeditor_3.5/ckeditor/:
-.htacces, changes.html, ... (and other files)
-_samples (directory)
-_source (directory)
- ...other directories

5. Make new directory libraries in …/sites/all/

6. Have directory: …/sites/all/libraries and copy ckeditor.

7. Goto .../modules/list, but dont see Ckeditor in the list ... mhmmm ...
Cant add CKeditor modul ...

8. Goto and start file : ... /sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/_samples/index.html.
I see: Ckeditor Samples List:
- Basic Samples
- Basic Customization
- Advanced Samples

Question:
Make a html code from Advanced Samples – Output HTML?
May be dont need modules CKeditor in Drupal Modules/list?

1. I copy Ckeditor into Sites/all/modules an have directoy:

But dont see Ceditor in Modules/list

2. Make another test (2 ckeditors directories):
.../sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor:
-.htacces, changes.html, ... (and other files)
-_samples (directory)
-_source (directory)
- ...other directories

And ... dont see CKeditor in Modules/list ...

Conclusion:
... imposible easy to install Ckeditor_3.5 ...

Easy install is Admin-menu ... unzip, copy in modules, check box in mudoles/list and ready ...

Drupal - easy or not easy ? That is a question?

Is easy, you that do not understand!!!
You need both things!!!!!
Get the module from here and put at sites/all/modules/ckeditor, as you did frist time

AND

Copy the library from ckeditor.com and put at sites/all/libraries/ckeditor

You need to do the both steps.

yukare- thanks for answer. Its correctly - I understand not all. But its normal - I can and dont know all, but if I have question, I do this query and hope - somebody can clear me, what I do wrong and where can read, what is correctly.
I understand - it is ungrateful to clear other mistakes ...
Sorry - dont understand - where is library in ckeditor.com for Drupal. Search, but not find answer for this question in ckeditor site. Can You give me link for this library?
Ok - test other way - goto book 'Using Drupal' and read about install fckeditor ...

Next test – install FCKeditor.

Question:
1. goto http://drupal.org/project/fckeditor and download recommended releases Version 6.x-2.1 (zip 192.43 KB from 2010-Mar-13) ?
or
2. Read book „Using Drupal”: open site http://www.fckeditor.net ... but transfer to site: http://ckeditor.com/download. Find FCK editor (retired – our prevoius editor solution, stable and full featured) - FCKeditor 2.6.6., released on 15 Feb 2010. Download this zip?

Answer:
1. Download recommended releases fckeditor-6.x-2.1.zip from
http://ftp.drupal.org
and
2. download FCKeditor 2.6.6., released on 15 Feb 2010 from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fckeditor/files/FCKeditor/2.6.6/FCKedito...

then show and compare both unzips.

Question:
Trust recommended release from drupal site (1.) or fckeditor release from ckeditor site (2.)?
What install – 1. or 2.?

Get this file from ckeditor.com, it is not a library for drupal, it is the same library used anywhere by ckeditor: http://download.cksource.com/CKEditor/CKEditor/CKEditor%203.5/ckeditor_3..., after this uncompress it, and copy to sites/all/libraries, so you will have a file like sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/cheditor.php, sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/cheditor.asp

And do the the same thing you did on the frist post on this thread, remember this:
- The CKEditor component is not installed correctly. Please go to the CKEditor homepage to download the latest version. After that you must extract the files to sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor or sites/all/libraries/ckeditor and make sure that the file sites/all/modules/ckeditor/ckeditor/ckeditor.js or sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/ckeditor.js exist. Refer to the readme.txt for more information.

Now it will find the ckeditor, and will not show this.

What install - 1. or 2.? Install 1.+2. !
Copy unziped fckeditor (1. - drupal recom.release) to site/all/modules
and
then copy unziped fckeditor (2. - ckeditor.com release) to site/all/modules/fckeditor.

Get this - see jpg file.

No more error by install. FCkeditor work. Permissions set.
Learning from reading and doing, do itself.
