http://api.drupal.org/api/group/lock/7 has a typo --
"By obtainng a lock, one request notifies" obtainng -> obtaining

Sunzz provided this patch for Drupal 6, but it needs to be patched for Drupal 7. I'm attaching Sunzz's patch in case it will apply/pass tests for D7. If so, it's RTBC.
