I volunteer to help maintain core's path module. I'm working with greggles and co in pathauto already and maintaining path_redirect already.

I also routinely cull path.module's issue queue and maintain the 'Path and Path API' Core initiatives subpage (http://drupal.org/node/601106).

Thanks Dave ... I think PATH API and PATH MODULE would be a fine title as well.

I went with PATH SYSTEM, since it looks like most other people in charge of .inc/.module combos (menu, filter) use that nomenclature.
