A few small improvements can be made to the taxonomy user interface text:
- On the taxonomy vocabulary add/edit screen (admin/structure/taxonomy/add or the equivalent edit URL), if you click on the little "edit" link for the machine-readable name of the vocabulary, it says "machine readable" in two places. Should be "machine-readable" with a hyphen.
While we're at it, also on vocabulary add/edit: "The unique machine readable name for this vocabulary, used for theme templates, can only contain lowercase letters, numbers and underscores." I think the comma after templates should be a period. (This is the description/help text for the machine-readable name field.)
- The help text at top of taxonomy add is useless and should be removed "To create a new taxonomy vocabulary, type in a name and a description.". We are not supposed to put obvious stuff like that on screens.
- On the List Terms page for a vocabulary, the help text should also go: 'You can reorganize the terms in My vocab using their drag and drop handles, and group terms under a parent term by sliding them under and to the right of the parent."
- When I visit an empty taxonomy term page, the text says
"There are currently no posts in this category.". This violates current guidelines -- we don't use the word "posts" and I don't think we use the word "category" either? Posts is certain, see http://drupal.org/node/604342

jhodgdonDecided this wasn't so minor after all.

jhodgdonI relented on totally removing the explanation of the drag-and-drop, because I decided it might be useful still to have the hierarchy described.
Here's a patch that fixes the other issues noted, plus a couple of other punctuation fixes.
