The default menu in Drupal uses nonclickable triangles (another issue) and bullets.

The bullets are "busy bullets"; squares with a dot in the middle. They are complicated. They scream to the eye, Look at me! I'm a busy bullet! I'm a complex geometric shape with lots of contrast!

This is bad. The bullets should not be drawing attention to themselves, but to the menu item next to them. I've removed the dot from inside the bullet.

This was saved as a PNG-24 with transparency in Photoshop.
