I'm no javascript expert, but it seems that my little patch correct this situation.
Note : the Margin is no necessary, but I added it for cosmetic ;)

Tested with opera 8.51

I don't know why, but the measuring fails on Opera sometimes. The reason I measured was because of platform differences and Opera skins, but I suppose it's better to be off by a couple of pixels than by a hundred...
