Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Right now, if you want to play nice and use the prepopulated and exampled $conf in settings.php, you have to uncomment two lines that are over 100 lines apart. Instead, let's uncomment that first and last line by default.

mr.baileysThis would be good to have. I recently worked on Theming the Drupal 6 maintenance page which had a number of comments where people were wondering why uncommenting a line in settings.php did not work.
Reviewed the patch, found no problems. Applied the patch (and made sure the changes made it from default.settings.php into settings.php) and found no problems.
