I created a block plugin field and when I was doing settings and changed the Selection Method from Block to Category, the wrapper was not refreshed which resulted to same results as they were showing on select of Blocks. Please find the image with this issue.

The issue is caused by an AJAX error because of a wrong use statement in the field settings form. Attaching a patch with a fix.
