Date Popup Authored is a Drupal 6/7 module that replaces the "Authored On" field on node creation/edit forms with a date picker. This functionality was added to Drupal 8 in #1835016: Polyfill date input type.

I'm not sure if there's a cutoff for inclusion in Upgrade Status (Date Popup Authored has ~19.4k installs), but a patch is forthcoming anyway.
