There was some issue with the encoding of the '›' character in book.test.

Here's a patch that should work. I'll submit a separate issue for replacing those characters with the equivalent HTML entities.

Edit: the same problem happened again, '›' gets converted to '›'.

It turns out that the problem happens when copying the patch through firefox and pasting it in eclipse. Saving the patch and applying it from the command-line works.
