The description of a node type's Name form element in it's add/edit form contains the phrase It is recommended that this name begin with a capital letter and contain only letters, numbers, and spaces.. We should not recommend anything here, especially as there is absolutely no technical limitation to what characters a node type's human-readable can or cannot contain.
