This fixes it - my editor also automatically cleaned up whitespace / spaces / tabs.

After patching I get this error on creating a new field:

Notice: Undefined index: cmis_field_rootFolderPath in cmis_field_field_widget_form() (regel 120 van /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/alfresco/sites/all/modules/cmis/cmis_field/cmis_field.module).

You might need to resave the instance settings of the field.

Another +1 for this patch. Field configuration changes were silently failing before this patch was applied. After applying the patch the problem went away.
