When I go to the content filters section of site configuration in admin, I see gibberish characters like:

i think this is bug #698. please try the fix mentioned there or here (initializing $output). please report back if this solves your problem. if it does, anyone please fix this in cvs. thanks!

Thank you very much, ax. The fix mentioned in bug #698 indeed fixed the problem. The gibberish characters went away and I can set content filters now.

I'm sorry I didn't find the answer myself. I'm new to Drupal and still poking around.
