I've been thinking about switching hosts... currently using siteground... and didn't want to make too many jumps. Anyhow, I was considering Cartika, because they seem to have a good rep on WHT and they don't seem to have the CPU / RAM caps that the other web hosts seem to.

If anyone has any info on them, much appreciated.

Thanks!

Well,

These guys are pretty good. Really intelligent. Seem to try really hard.

So, I went for it and made the transfer.... and, now... well, I'm still trying to fix my website, 'cause of incompatibilities with MySQL 4.0 -- [I was on MySQL 4.1 and they're on 4.0] -- but I guess that's not really their fault....

Their tech / support / sales person Erin has been great, as has Andrew, so that even though there's some major glitches right now, 'cause of the 4.1 to 4.0 database downgrade, we've been able to trouble shoot at least 50% of those.

But there's still quite a few glitches...

Honestly, it's a bit of a rough transition over, and I'm not sure it's the right fit -- not because of the quality of service, 'cause they're really top there, -- but because I kinda need MySQL 4.1 unless I want to rewrite some major parts of my code. And they don't have it because their cluster program isn't compatible with it, yet.

Still, they could be great for someone on Drupal, especially if you're already coming from a MySQL 4.0 environment.

Incidentally, they're pretty heavily into Mambo and zenCart, I think... and tho' they don't know that much about drupal (yet), they showed a strong willingness to learn. Researching drupal and all. Definitely customer oriented. They even installed a drupal test site for me here: www.drupal.cartikahosting.com .... without me even asking for it.... just so I could see how it ran on cartika's site.... So they're *very* service oriented. Quality place, I'd say. You'll probably pay more for them than a budget place. But there's a reason for that.

The only drawback, for me, right now, really is the MySQL 4.1 vs 4.0 issue. Hopefully, I'll get that fixed.

Best,
Albert
