I just installed Drupal on raspbian (pi3) with nginx, as a home web server, and it works very nice,
however emails are not sent from the site. Please advise if have to install any module,
or can configure Drupal or raspbian in order to get emails?

SMTP
The quickest way I know is to use the SMTP module : https://www.drupal.org/project/smtp and set it up with your email provider unless you want to go to the trouble of setting up Postfix on your pi. https://blog.dantup.com/2016/04/setting-up-raspberry-pi-raspbian-jessie-...
GeekMechanic & VM Hi,
GeekMechanic & VM Hi,
Sorry but not sure I figure out what exactly need to do - according readme of smtp module: "REQUIREMENTS * Access to an SMTP server.." - Please explain if it is really needed, and if it is what you have noted as 'Postfix'?
If it is needed please inform if it is one of the following links or please note another one?

Also - Do need to ask from my ISP for SMTP account?
Thanks
You need to be connected to the mail infrastructure.
As mentioned you have two options. You make your raspberry connect to the mail infrastructure, installing something like Postfix/Sendmail. Or, you tell PHP to connect to an outside SMTP server. Your provider may even provide that service. Just Google smtp server and you'll get all smtp servers of the providers near you.
Recommend asking your ISP for access details to their SMTP server. But if you like to experiment, try connecting your raspberry to the mail infrastructure.
I followed this tutorial and
I followed this tutorial and replaced gmail details with my SMTP server, afterword installed SMTP module and now can get emails from site:

Guess you meant by "you tell PHP to connect to an outside SMTP server" to install SMTP module...
BTW: With gmail's SMTP server it did not work, probably due to lack of SSL in my server - hope to add it soon...
Thanks you all

you don't state that you've installed and configured a local email server (sendmail/postfix etc) up your environment.
