I am trying to get the search form working. When I try to search for things with and without wildcards it always turns up with a message saying search yiedled 0 results. Not sure what else I have to do to get this to work.

index
Search works using an index. This index is generated during a cron.php run or, if you have many nodes, during multiple cron.php runs.
Did you setup a crontab entry for cron.php or do you use poormanscron?

Hmmm.. I did not set that up. How would I do that?
You can also register
You can also register here:

and set that up to visit www.yoursite.com/cron.php at regular intervals.
Sorry for asking to begin
Sorry for asking to begin with lol. I did more research and found an article that explained what I just asked. I modified the lynx-cron.sh and it works now :)
Thanks for the help guys!
Thanks for the help guys! That was quick and the problem is resolved! Thanks for the site too, I will go there!
Try this
Go to mysite.com/cron.php where "mysite.com" is your drupal domain.
Once you hit this page once your index will be updated and your search should work.
This is a php file (with no output to screen) which is doing a bunch of stuff in the background including indexing for search to work properly. This file should be run periodically to do required drupal maintenance. Most people set up a cron job on linux to "hit" this url every day or hour, depending on how often your site is changing.
Cron runs, but index isn't being updated.
I'm having a hit and miss kind of experience with search, with 4.7. I think that it's working, but then it doesn't. I noted a user's search failing in the admin log and I tried it, and it didn't work for me, either, even though in the same log it says cron is running successfully every hour.
I finally went to the search settings page and forced a re-indexing. I had 176 items to index, and a setting to do 100 items, so I ran cron.php twice. Now I can, in fact, find the item that I previously couldn't.
Should manually re-indexing be necessary? Is there anything that has to be done, specifically, to get cron.php to index new material as it's added? Is it possibly a 4.6 to 4.7 transition issue with the index?
