Hi I posted my question on https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48692974/drupal-8-subtheme-sass but to no avail so I would like to try here.

I have read up on subtheming Subtheme-bootstrap and I believe to have made all the proper changes, but it does not render properly, drop down does not work, styling is kind of funky. My directory is:

vfwc:
   -bootstrap
      -assets
         -fonts
         -images
         -javascripts
         -stylesheets
   -config
   -config.rb
   -css
      -style.css
   -scss
      -_default-variables.scss
      -styles.scss
      -_overrides.scss
   -vfwc.info.yml
   -vfwc.libraries.yml
   -vfwc.theme

I am using compass to compile, in config.rb:

require 'compass/import-once/activate'
# Require any additional compass plugins here.

# Set this to the root of your project when deployed:
http_path = "/"
css_dir = "css"
sass_dir = "scss"
images_dir = "images"
javascripts_dir = "js"

Lastly here is the SASS render page:

But here is the correct display of bootstrap theme:

Any help or redirects to information would be appriciated, Thank you!

Update* I am getting the same styling problem for all starter kits, cdn/less/sass. So I was wondering if maybe my subtheme structure is off?

in vfwc.info.yml

core: 8.x
type: theme
base theme: bootstrap

name: 'VFWC'
description: 'VFWC provides a bootstrap template website.'
package: 'Bootstrap'

My structure:

theme:
- contrib:
-bootstrap
- custom:
-vfwc
