Was wondering if Drupal could do this.

I need to create dynamic website that allows users to sign up, create a customizable page with pictures and text and allow for the general public to see these user-created pages.
I think it should be database driven and written in PHP

Then I would like the main page, to sort of be like a directory, where you would see the categories,
and links to the user's pages they created.

Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing that drupal can do. The setup will take a bit longer than other content managers, but the robust system, and the ease of use once rolling is great.

No. I have domain, webhost.

I am have installed Drupal and am going to look now at the modules as I know what I need, just how to implement it.

Which modules would I need? I know I am playing around with another script
that has a module for user pages and also one for WordPress.

I am sort of overwhelmed by everything so a point in the right direction on where and
what I should use would be appreciated :)
