Hi,

I currently run a tech blog made on WordPress. I had read somewhere that Drupal offers better SEO aspects in comparison to WordPress. Is it true?

To be frank, the website is nearly 4 years old but I am still struggling to drive traffic to the site. I guess, the implications of plugins and unstructured code adds more disadvantage in WP.

Could someone guide on the same with proper data!

You should work on your social media platforms to generate more traffic on the tech blog website. I don't think WordPress or Drupal affect your SEO strategies.

In general, Drupal perform better than wordpress in SEO. But in your case, you'll run into same issue even if you switch to Drupal, the reason being:

1. Your current web traffics are not strong enough to push you up the SEO ranking, your current Alexa ranking is 2,053,772.

2. Your bounce rate is 79.3%, you should try to lower the bounce rate.

3. You only have about 13 backlinks to your site.

4. Here are some of your highest traffic keywords:

smallest atx case
small atx case
best ram for ryzen
small atx cases
best rc drift cars for beginners

You'll need to do more keyword research in order to improve your customer outreach.

5. Seems like your current visitors are mostly from India, you would need to expand your visitor base to outside of India through social media or other platforms.

6. You should see improvement on your SEO once you fixed items above.

Hope this helps!

I am also facing the same problems which are facing by slintyflinty. I Run a Website for services and I developed by website on WordPress. For the SEO point of view i also think that Drupal is better than WordPress and i also planning to switch it.

I check your suggestions for the above website which is tech-based website. And I think you are good in SEO. Can you also suggest me some tips for my website so that i can drive some traffic to my website?

I already planned to switch my WordPress to Drupal if you have some good suggestion then it will help a lot to not to switch.

Drupal

A special feature is the flexibility of the system.

Drupal - a more complex content management system than the previous two, has several advantages and significant drawbacks - the complexity of management, weighs a lot, requires a large amount of memory on the server. But at the same time, everything is possible with her. Drupal has a large set of plug-ins for the implementation of any task.

Wordpress

WordPress was originally developed as a powerful blogging platform. Over the years of improvement, unique plug-ins have been developed to facilitate the work with the promotion and publication of content. I use Drupal but the previous website I made using free backlink checker - seo tool by SitecheckerThe WordPress content management system is simplest in terms of content publishing, customization flexibility, and code editing.

..and if I may add: consider following Brian Dean / backlinko.com for SEO guidance. His videos and posts contain good recommendations in my point of view.

Hi, Nowadays link building plays a major role in website traffic. If you are regularly concentrating on link building your website will be showing top in the SERP which drives more traffic to your website. The next thing is that social media platforms try to post engaging(eye-catching) images in all social media platforms that help you to get more traffic to your website.

Talking about off page optimization, looking at your blog I would strongly suggest you to use pinterest to promote your blog.

My personal blog is on WordPress but I have worked for several clients whose websites are on Drupal. Actually, they both work really well for SEO purposes. Drupal is better for SEO out of the box in my opinion but WordPress plugins can help you achieve this too.

From a technical perspective, it all comes down to what you really need. A good SEO specialist will make things work with both. You should be aware that WordPress plugins can get really costly (~$1,000 for theme, hosting & plugins for my blog). On Drupal, you might need developer help to install some extensions.

My personal preference is Drupal because it already comes with:

  • Caching
  • Responsive Design
  • Most SEO Tag Fields
  • Clean website architecture
  • And a lot more...

The decision of choosing WordPress Vs Drupal should be taken after you consider all the advantages and drawbacks of each. For large and complex websites like those requiring international SEO and technical implementation such as the hreflang tag, Drupal works best.

As a pure white hat SEO specialist, I think that on-site SEO should be at it's best before even considering links. Whether it is Drupal, WordPress or any other CMS, work on your on-site SEO first. Make your website as user-friendly as you can. Create awesome content for your users. Follow Google Webmaster Guidelines, you will soon hit the top spots for tech keywords.

Hope that helped.

In my experience, plugins, CMS, or paid them does not matter when it comes to writing a blog. For other businesses, these things might matter. However, I run my blogs on Wordpress the reason being the ease of integration and modifications available.

I have 3 blogs and all of them generate good traffic as suggested by ahref. Two things to keep in mind irrespective of CMS, plugins or them are:

Content is the king - Create a pillar post having 5000-6000 words then create posts having 1500-2000 words around the same topic as pillar post but experiment with the keywords.

Backlinks - nothing works in 2020 if you do not have some authority to your site. Build backlinks so that good domains refer to you. There are millions of tech blogs having thousands of backlinks. Check your competitors.

Choosing between WordPress and Drupal is a matter of requirements, most people these days choose Drupal CMS because of its best security modules, in the case of WordPress its mostly ease of use, as for SEO, WordPress is definitely easier to optimize for search engine. I work for a web application development firm in UK, where WordPress is bigger share in CMS world, but Drupal is mostly preferred for bank or government sites which usually don't need SEO. I hope this helps.
