This is a bit off-topic, more on working habits. I'm wondering if anyone here has any good recommendations for a CVS client for Mac. There are quite a few out there, and a lot of discussion elsewhere, but I'm hoping to get a sense from this group here.

My technical background is in television and film. Tech jargon doesn't scare me. But to be honest, the CVS world is new to me. In web, until recently, I've been mostly a designer and multimedia producer. I'm getting up to speed fast, but I had not realized that a CVS client is the tool to use to contribute themes here and help on the documentation efforts. Yeah, okay, spare me the jeers. I know. I'm a dummy.

For coding and theming, I'm currently using TextWrangler, the freeware version of BBedit. Are there any GUI CVS clients -- or command-line clients that will interface with TextWrangler -- that anyone might recommend?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

There seem to be a number of different clients all called MacCVS or MacCVS Pro. They all seem to have been untouched in two or three years now. In fact, unless I missed something, the only Mac-based CVS-capable editor that's in active development seems to be BBedit @ $200. It would be a familiar interface as I use TextWrangler for all my coding work...

...but that $200 could go into sorely needed drive space.

Any "free" CVS clients for Mac that would compare? Any hints, rumors or warnings will be much appreciated! Thanks!

I've tried a few different Mac CVS GUI applications, and the one that worked the best for me was CVL. It's not the prettiest, but it does the job.

I've written some documentation for using CVL with Drupal:

http://drupal.org/node/20202

A lot of the info also applies to using any other CVS GUI on the Mac.

It's also worth reading the CVS concepts page:

http://drupal.org/node/20219

Hope this helps, and don't worry, it's not as complicated as it looks. ;-)

Somehow those pages escaped my site search. Much appreciated!
