Introduction

Groups.drupal.org facilitates collaboration for collections of Drupal fans everywhere. We host local meetup groups like Toronto and South Africa. We host working groups like Views developers and High performance. These groups each get a home page where they can post. Those posts are offered via email and RSS to those who wish to subscribe. The posts are tagged for interesting browsing. This site expects all users to follow the Drupal Code of Conduct.

Policies

We have a few policies for how the site runs. In general we follow all the rules of drupal.org. Then beyond that:

Group submission guidelines for what kinds of groups should (and shouldn't) be hosted here.
Taking over an abandoned group or having it deleted is also documented.
The Permissions on the site for different types of accounts explain how and why you want want to use the site.
We use a form of preventive spam protection called Mollom - you should be aware of their terms of service. Mollom will sometimes present users with a visual or audio challenge (CAPTCHA) which must be solved to post to our site. If you are unable to solve these challenges please contact the site maintainers and we will investigate the problem with the team at Mollom and perhaps change your account so you don't have to interact with Mollom.
We also use a form of detective spam protection called manual reporting. If you see spam on the site please report it at groupsdrupalorg issue queue
You can see the "organizers" of each group in the right sidebar when looking at a page or a group homepage. We also have a list of the admins, editors, and moderators of the entire site.

- Organic Groups and OG Vocab. This module provides the groups containers and access control and subscription management features. Each group gets email subscriptions, RSS feeds, own theme and own language, taxonomy, and much more. By Moshe Weitzman.
- Views. Provides for powerful custom node listings such as seen on the group directory page and on the Unread posts pages. By merlinofchaos.
- Date. This CCK related module powers the Events functionality here. By KarenS
- Signup. Lets users reply to events, sends reminder e-mails, broadcast messages to everyone signed up, etc. By dww.
- Markdown. Enables authors to use comfortable text syntax to create rich HTML posts. By Gábor Hojtsy.
- Mollom for a preventive form of spam protection. This is important since every post/comment on the site is mailed out to users.
- Image and image_attach. Enabled groups to have their own image.
- Modr8. Moderate posts using an optimized administrative interface. Used to review new group proposals.
- Pathauto. Provides automatic friendly URLs for group home pages.
- Diff. Shows word by word differences between different revisions of a node. Also shows differences during a node edit. Maintained by yhahn
- Fasttoggle. Editors may promote or sticky posts with just a single click while reading around the site. By kkaefer.
- Apachesolr. Powers our fast faceted search. By robertDouglass
- Og Panels, Panels, and CTools. Powers the custom panel pages authored by group administrators.
- Bakery. Single sign on integration among all *.drupal.org web sites.
- Notifications and Messaging which power the e-mails sent by the site.
- Radioactivity which helps calculate the hot content on the site automatically to create a more interesting view of the most important content than a manually curated homepage.
