There are many things that can be modified in a slideshow: transitions and their speed, overlay styles and hover/focus effects are some examples. Plugins and Twig are just about perfect tools for converting these tweaks into configurable View options.

Plugin options for slideshow navigation styles

Although thumbnail navigation is rather pretty and neat, there are several other possibilities that might be more practical for many sites. Hence, it would be convenient to provide these as configurable View options. Once again, Plugins and Twig comes in handy.
