As DrupalCon Chicago 2026 draws closer, conversations about community are extending beyond sessions, socials, and contributions to include how we care for one another in shared spaces. Every community has unsung heroes—people who show up, lend a hand, mentor newcomers, and make everyone around them better. In the Drupal community, we have a special way of recognizing these exceptional individuals: the Aaron Winborn Award.
Let’s be honest: It’s not always easy to be part of a global community. And the last few years have made that clearer than ever.
The Drupal Community Working Group (CWG) is here to help create a more supportive and inclusive community for everyone. We uphold our Code of Conduct, and support community members navigating tough situations. We’re also working behind the scenes to build proactive systems of care and recognition. It’s challenging work, but it’s deeply meaningful.
At DrupalCon Atlanta 2025, the Drupal Community Working Group announced Kristen Pol as this year’s recipient of the Aaron Winborn Award. Named after long-time contributor Aaron Winborn, this award recognizes someone who embodies kindness, integrity, and an above and beyond commitment to the Drupal community.

The “drop is always moving,” and Drupal continues to evolve thanks to the folks who contribute from all over the world. But sometimes, behind all the coding, innovation, and collaborating, people start to lose motivation. In fact, it’s not uncommon for contributors to the Drupal project to experience burnout.
The Drupal Community Working Group is here to help. Part of our charter is to "help to prevent conflict and burnout" burnout, and this article is all about recognizing the signs and finding support.
Burnout can happen when work and life get out of balance. It can appear for lots of reasons. You might feel tired all the time or just plain bored with the same old tasks. Doubts creep in, and you start feeling impostor syndrome. You might feel the symptoms in your body and mind.
