 A Skilled database designer/administrator should be able to do the following:

  • Install and configure Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) software
  • Provision systems for adequate storage capacity, performance tuning, and security
  • Select, Insert, update and delete database records using Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Import, export, and migrate data from one database to another
  • Create, back up, and recover database instances

An Expert database administrator should additionally be able to do the following:

  • Configure multiple databases for load balancing and high availability
  • Integrate Drupal with additional data sources
  • Implement and review others' implementation of database best practices for Drupal
