Mentored contribution events with new contributors should have New Contributor Workshops before the event, and several times during the event. The workshop lead:

  • prepares to present the workshop, explaining what contribution to Drupal looks like, why we do the things that we do and how to get and stay involved
  • presents the workshop and finds others to present it if concurrent presentations are needed
  • is on site
Impact: 

New contributor workshops orient new contributors about how Drupal is developed, and what tools they need to set up to contribute.

How to get started: 

An experienced mentor can volunteer to present or co-present a First Time Contributor workshop at an event. After presenting the standard workshop, the mentor could volunteer as workshop lead at the next event.
