DrupalCons happen periodically at different places in the world. They're similar to a DrupalCamp but longer, bigger, and often include other elements like summits, trainings, and contribution sprints. The volunteer coordinator manages all of the individual volunteers, both before the event and on-site, working closely with other DrupalCon planning team members to position volunteers where they can be most helpful.

Impact:

DrupalCons are a product of the Drupal community, and nowhere is that more clear than in the vast amount of volunteer work that goes into creating them. The volunteer coordinator is an indispensable role that ensures DrupalCon happens successfully, and that individual volunteers are recognized and valued for their contributions.

Accountable for:
  • Recruiting individual volunteers
  • Coordinating with other members of the planning team to determine where and how volunteers are needed
  • Developing roles and time slots for which volunteers can sign up
  • With the help of the planning team, determining and publicizing the ways volunteers will be rewarded for their time and recognized through their efforts through drupal.org credits, swag, conference discounts, and other means
  • Being on-site to answer volunteers' questions, fill empty slots if needed, and ensure volunteer success
How to get started:

As each DrupalCon is announced, look for requests for planning team members.
