Maintain or co-maintain the software and design for a contributed module, theme, or distribution project on drupal.org.
Contributed modules, themes, and distributions allow Drupal users to add new functionality and design to their sites, beyond that offered by the Drupal core software. Drupal core and web technology are always evolving, and users of the projects will inevitably find bugs and think of suggestions for new features. For that reason, every project needs to have one or more maintainers to update the project's software and respond to issues.
- Responding to issues that are submitted in the project's issue list: politely, constructively, and in a timely manner
- Reviewing and committing code changes
- Responding promptly and confidentially to security issues
- Updating the project's software when Drupal core evolves
- Maintaining documentation for the project
- Finding co-maintainers to spread the work around
- Exiting gracefully when you are no longer able or willing to maintain the project
For more details, see the guide to managing a contributed project.
Participate in the issue queue for an existing module, theme, or distribution project (see "Tasks this role performs" on this page):
- Triage issues
- Provide patches
- Review patches
Once you have been participating for a while, and are familiar with the project's source code, create an issue in the project to request co-maintainer status.
