Chicken is a UK-based Drupal service provider focused on the public sector and content-heavy platforms, with a particular home in LocalGov Drupal. We design and build accessible, sustainable sites and tools that help teams publish clearer, more user-centred content.
We follow WCAG 2.2 guidelines and treat accessibility as part of the work, building it in as we go rather than auditing it at the end.
We're proud to be a Government Commercial Agency (Crown Commercial Service) supplier on G-Cloud and Digital Outcomes & Specialists, which means councils and public sector organisations can commission our services directly through the frameworks without a full procurement exercise. We're Cyber Essentials Certified.
We work with councils including the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. Where our LocalGov Drupal project cut build costs by around 75% while improving accessibility and performance. We recently partnered with Southwark Council to build an award winning AI-powered PDF importer that converts PDFs into structured, accessible HTML publications in minutes.

Drupal contributions
We're active members of the Drupal and LocalGov Drupal communities. Contributing code, attending sprints, and helping shape the direction of the distribution. Our contributions include Subsites Extras, Publications, and Events Finders modules.
Justine (Creative Director) was previously on the board of Open Digital Cooperative, which runs the LGD project. Rupert (Technical Director) is part of LGD's technical governance group.
Justine also organises the Bristol Drupal meetup, bringing together developers, designers, and content people working with Drupal across the south west.
