Why Drupal was chosen: 

Aster hospitals wanted to enable a cohesive web experience across their 8 different regional hospital websites and showcase a fresh brand identity.  We harnessed the power of Drupal 9 to build a customized theme, to enable faceted search features, and to streamline content authoring. Drupal’s flexibility enabled us to customize and provide component-based page-building capabilities to empower Aster’s marketing team to create and update region-specific hospital pages as needed.

The Challenges

Since Aster hospitals’ network is spread across different countries and cities, their data that was residing exclusive to the location, had to be merged and supported via one single platform. Which means they needed one top-level solution that would shelter the other local websites.

Every regional marketing team had to be empowered with the ability to create and update hospital pages as needed.

Aster wanted a compelling UX design that would give them an edge over their competitors while at the same time, be functional and intuitive to their consumers. An intuitive search functionality where users can search for anything related to their hospitals and fine-tune the results as required. The data from the existing hospitals needed to be seamlessly migrated to the new top-level site.

What did our best minds do?

Specbee was entrusted to build a one-stop solution that included showcasing a new brand identity. We chose to build the solution on Drupal 9 as the features offered completely aligned with Aster’s business requirements.

We began with research, competitive analysis, and questionnaires to understand the expectations of Aster’s target consumers. With all this data, we could create storyboards and produce designs using pencil sketches, wire-framing, and visual designs. Our Drupal Front-end experts leveraged these visual designs to build themes and components. The components were then stitched to the backend in a way that enabled Aster’s regional marketers with page-building abilities using a wide selection of UI components.

We leveraged the power of Drupal 9’s features like Paragraphs, Layout builder, and Media module to achieve the rich authoring capabilities required for component-based page building. An intuitive and faceted search functionality was implemented with custom development using Apache Solr.

Claro theme
We chose to use Claro theme as there are tons of improvements in terms of UI. It supports light and dark mode and has improved accessibility as well.
Paragraph
The Paragraphs module was chosen as it enables site builders with a cleaner and more powerful content editing medium. Content editing is easy and intuitive with the paragraphs module.
Layout Builder
We used the Layout builder to enable Aster's regional marketing teams to create compelling visual layouts easily. Creating pages are quicker and easier with Layout builder.
