Big Blue Door is an open source digital agency that has been delivering transformational services across the public sector for almost 15 years.
Our company and our work are fully transparent, so that we become part of your team. We invest as much time in educating you about your products, and the best ways to use them, as we do developing them.
We work with a wide range of clients including central government, local government, charities, the NHS, Emergency Services, cultural organisations and the voluntary sector. All our services meet the Government Digital Services Service Standard, and we adopt principles from the service manual wherever possible. We have passed a number of NHSX and GDS service assessments, and work to the latest accessibility guidelines.
Our delivery frameworks include Drupal, WordPress, and Wagtail. We primarily use Amazon Web Services for hosting.
Our distributed team is split across the UK, Europe (including Denmark, Finland, Portugal), and Canada, and all team members can work remotely when they wish. Our core team, including our service desk, remains UK-based, with an office in London and other key team members across all parts of the UK.
LocalGov Drupal
Big Blue Door has extensive experience in the LocalGov Drupal space. We have designed, developed, and launched a significant number of LocalGov Drupal websites, and are a market leader in this space. Our experience with LocalGov Drupal has led us to enhance the core LGD product with several enhancements, some of which can be explored on our LocalGov Drupal page. As of May 2026, we host/support/maintain, roughly 40% of all live LocalGov Drupal projects, including significant builds for clients such as Essex County Council, Southwark Council, Hackney Council, West Lindsey District Council, Trafford Council, Woking Council, Sheffield City Council, Hart District Council, Argyll & Bute Council, and Clare County Council, amongst many others.
Want to get involved?
Reach out to us via localgovdrupal@bigbluedoor.net to arrange a free demo and one year’s free hosting of LocalGov Drupal in a non-production environment, along with one day’s consultancy with our team so that you can get the best out of the solution. At the end of the trial all code and files will be yours so can be ported to another other provider or in-house solution.
