Be a part of something bigger this holiday season – Pantheon’s 2021 Gift of Open Source, taking place 1 December - 31 December 2021. Open source contributors from all backgrounds are welcome! By contributing, you’ll help make the web a more inclusive, efficient, and impactful experience for all. Help Pantheon reach their goal of 500 total contributions this year, and Pantheon will donate $5,000 to both the WordPress Foundation and Drupal Association!

Why should you contribute?

Involvement with open source can be a rewarding way to learn, teach, and build experience in just about any career or skill you can imagine. Whether new to contributing to the Drupal project or an experienced contributor looking for a new task or role, you can use the below entry points to explore the many ways to contribute.

First-time Contributors

Is it your first time contributing? No problem! As a first-time contributor, it can be overwhelming – but we have plenty of resources to assist you along the way. Open source software is built through contributions from the community, and being a contributor allows you to improve that software and learn and grow through the process.

Experienced/Seasoned Contributors

Have you contributed to Drupal before? You can have the greatest impact on the growth of the Drupal community by helping people who are only just beginning their contribution journey. December is the perfect time to mentor others!

  • Offer to help mentor new contributors in the Drupal Slack #contribute channel. Read the Contribution Guide for tips on mentoring others. Don’t forget to add a comment to issues where you mentored someone, so we know to give you credit!
  • Coordinate with other mentors in the #mentoring channel - having multiple people mentoring simultaneously allows us all to support each other.
  • If you enjoy your time mentoring others, maybe you should also consider helping to mentor an underrepresented student in the Discover Drupal Program?

Get Connected

Share your work and progress in the Gift of Open Source 2021 forums using the gift-of-open-source tag, and you might be featured in the wins for the week!

Looking for another way to contribute? You can support the continued success of the Drupal project by becoming an individual member or donating to the Drupal Association. Your financial contributions will directly support Drupal where help is needed most: building Drupal infrastructure and tools, ensuring Drupal.org runs smoothly, and collaborating to grow our community of innovation.
