server error message upon install

- attributes of directory are 705,
- in '.htaccess' file there is no any unavailable entries "

I'm trying Drupal 6.3 as it appears to be a stable version.
I tried installing with and without the setting files create from a default-setting duplicate.
I Chmod the site/default folder to 777 and the files within...

to no avail. This is quite frustrating. Please help.
