Question about views/taxonomy/categories and different pages in Drupal. I would like your recommendations...
Hi all,
I originally posted this in "Converting Sites to Drupal" but think it may be better off here as it is more "theme customization" that I am interested in. I will copy my original post at the end so that all of this makes sense.
Basically, the site I am building (for a magazine) needs to have a few main pages: Articles, Columns, Archives, E-Edition and a couple of others. Each of these main pages needs to have a slightly different look ...basically only the banner and content background image need to change. The pages of course will each hold different content (Articles on the articles page, columns on the columns page, etc.) The original website is at http://www.lee-magazine.com. Please see my post below for more detailed info.
My main questions are:
1. What/how would you recommend for me to go about doing these different pages? Is the taxonomy module for this type of thing? Or views?
2. What is the best way to go about setting up these categories... so that each type of content (e.g. articles or columns) lands up on the proper page? The categories module?
Thank you very much for your help.... awaiting your responses in anticipation:)
Christine

My original post:
Hi all,
Can you tell me if you think it wouldn't be too difficult to convert this website into Drupal? http://www.lee-magazine.com.
We really want to try to keep the same look, and also make some slight additions. If you go to http://www.lee-magazine.com/playground/indexplayground2.html the only difference you will see is an additional column on either side (the pictures there are only placeholders, put there in a jiffy!). We may want to use these columns for placing ads from the magazine, or some other function.
We want to keep it as similar (if not identical) as we possibly can. The thing is that each section has a slightly different look... just the banner and background of the main content are different. There is a different look for: articles, columns, contact us, about us, cover story, archives, e-edition. We would prolly keep the e-edition archives the way they are now and just link to it from Drupal.
Please can you give me advice about what you think would be the best/easiest way to accomplish this?
FYI, My experience up to now has been playing around with my own website (for the purpose of displaying my portfolio... I am a graphic artist) and creating a custom theme. I am still very much a newbie tho'.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help... very much appreciated!
Best regards,
Christine
